Annual Reviews

Annual Reviews is an independent nonprofit publisher dedicated to synthesizing and integrating knowledge for the progress of science and the benefit of society.  Publishing 51 review only journals, covering physical, biomedical, life, and social sciences. Each journal is directed by an Editorial Committee that commissions review articles and conducts peer review, supported by a core organization staff. Reviews are written by recognized experts who capture current understanding of a topic – including what is well supported and what is controversial – and highlight major questions that remain to be addressed. The combined efforts of authors, journal editors, reviewers, production editors, and illustrators creates content of great value to our principal target audience: researchers, faculty, and students. Annual Reviews is run by, and for, scientists.

Annual Reviews has all 51 collections available for subscription/purchase individually, complete collection or subject collection. You can pick & choose the titles that you need as well. Every subscription is a perpetual purchase, so it allows every institution to grow its online holdings and keep up to date with top tier content.

Also available is the Electronic Back Volume Collection or EBVC, which includes all content published by AR since the first volume of Annual Review of Biochemistry in 1932 and accounts for 50% of worldwide usage.

OPEN ACCESS: Knowable Magazine is the digital publication from Annual Reviews, seeking to make knowledge accessible to all. Knowable Magazine explores the real-world significance of scholarly work through a journalistic lens. Reporting on the current state of play across a wide variety of fields — from agriculture to high-energy physics; biochemistry to water security; the origins of the universe to psychology. Review articles written by leading scholars from the 51 Annual Reviews journals serve as springboards for stories in Knowable Magazine. Through in-depth features, explainers, articles, essays, interviews, infographics, slideshows, and comics, Knowable Magazine presents insights from research to a broader audience. The content is published under a CC BY-ND copyright license, and the Annual Reviews journal articles featured in Knowable Magazine are free to all for a limited period.
